What is Statue of Social Justice & Where it is situated?
Statue of Social Justice is also known as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Smriti Vanam or Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Memorial. It is a 125feet statue of Dr. Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, it is situated in Vijayawada district of state Andhra Pradesh. This statue in on 81 feet (25 m) tall base building, that makes its total height 206 feet (63m). You must be surprised to know that this statue is the fourth tallest statue in India. This was decided by Andhra Pradesh Government on his 125th birth anniversary that is on 14th April 2016 to make a statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
This statue is made by Steel, brass, bronze, and concrete. Its beginning date is 9th July 2020 and its ending date is 18th Jan 2024. The statue of Ambedkar is based on equality, liberty and social justice. The Ambedkar Smriti Vanam has many facilities such as Ambedkar’s biographical museum, a mini theatre, a convention centre, sky lighting, fountains, a library etc as well as a multipurpose convention hall which is of 3,000 seats, an open theatre with 2,000 seats, and a library with 10,000 books. The inauguration of this grand statue was done by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The statue covers 18.81 acres and cost of this statue is Rs.404.35 crore.
